Dance Movement Therapy
with Maya Adamidou
Dance Movement Therapy is founded upon the principle or belief that a connection
exists between our personality and the way we move, and that changes in how
we move affect our emotional, mental, and physical health.
This workshop offers you the opportunity to discover and to learn to trust
your ability to empathize, to respond authentically, and to translate non-verbal
experiences into cognitive insights.
Experiential body & mind exercises based on dance movement therapy principles will be used. You will learn how these embodied methods can help you to: be more fully present, improve your creativity, sociability, self-esteem, and reduce stress.
No prior movement experience is
necessary.
Maya Adamidou (1975, Athens, Greece) will be teaching this
workshop in English with some translation in Dutch, if needed.
Maya is a dance movement therapist who has worked several years with people, focusing on their abilities rather than disabilities. She has given DMT sessions in both psychiatric settings and nursing homes. Maya integrates her solid base in dance and improvisation with therapeutic interventions using movement, voice and painting.
She believes that every person has an inherent creative ability to fulfill his or her potential and that the health & well-being of an individual is connected with a happy and fair society, providing equal opportunities for everybody and existing in harmony with nature.
